PERIODIC MAINTENANCE SERVICES > Front & Rear Differential Gear Oil
1. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL (MT MODEL)
Front differential oil of MT model lubricates the transmission and differential together. Refer to “Transmission Gear Oil” for inspection procedures.
2. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL (AT MODEL)
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Remove the collector cover. (turbo model)
3. Remove the differential oil level gauge and wipe it clean.
4. Reinsert the level gauge all the way. Make sure the level gauge is inserted correctly and in the proper orientation.
5. Remove the level gauge again, and check the oil level of differential gear oil. If the differential gear oil level is below “L” line, add oil to bring the level up to “F” line.
NOTE:
To prevent overfilling the differential gear oil, do not fill oil to the “F” line or more.

2. Remove the filler plug or the oil temperature switch, and then check the gear oil. Replace the gear oil if it is contaminated or deteriorated.
NOTE:
Remove the oil temperature switch and the filler plug as a unit.
3. Check that the gear oil level is within −5 mm from the bottom of the filler plug hole. If the level is low, confirm that there is no oil leakage and refill up to the bottom of filler plug hole.
NOTE:
For VA type, only when delivered from the factory, the oil level is within −14 mm from the bottom of filler plug. Refilling oil is not required because the oil level is correct.
