REPLACEMENT

1. GASOLINE ENGINE MODEL

1. Set the vehicle on a lift.

2. Lift up the vehicle.

3. Remove the service hole cover clip located on the under cover. (Except for SOHC model)

4. Rotate the service hole cover in the arrow direction. (Except for SOHC model)

5. Remove the engine oil filter using the ST.

ST    18332AA000 OIL FILTER WRENCH (Outer diameter: 68 mm (2.68 in) for oil filter)

CAUTION:

Be careful not to spill the engine oil on exhaust pipe to prevent it from emitting smoke or fire. If engine oil spilled, wipe it off completely with cloth.

6. Clean the oil filter installation surface on cylinder block.

7. Obtain a new engine oil filter and apply a thin coat of engine oil to the seal rubber.

8. Install the oil filter by turning it by hand, being careful not to damage seal rubber.

9. Further tighten the oil filter (approx. one rotation) after the seal rubber of the oil filter comes in contact with the cylinder block. When using a torque wrench, tighten to 14 N·m (1.4 kgf-m, 10.3 ft-lb).

CAUTION:

Do not tighten excessively, or oil may leak.

10. Return the service hole cover to its original position. (Except for SOHC model)

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. After installing the oil filter, refill the specified amount of engine oil.

NOTE:

The filter element and filter case are permanently jointed, therefore, interior cleaning is not necessary.

13. After installing the oil filter, run the engine and make sure that no oil is leaking around seal rubber.

14. Check the engine oil level.

2. DIESEL ENGINE MODEL

CAUTION:

If the engine oil is spilt over exhaust pipe or the under cover, wipe it off with cloth to avoid emitting smoke or causing a fire.

1. Remove the collector cover.

2. Loosen the engine oil filter six rotations using an oil filter wrench.

3. Leave the vehicle alone for five minutes so that engine oil returns to the oil cooler side.

4. Remove the oil filter.

5. Clean the engine oil cooler cup and installation surface of the engine oil filter.

6. Obtain a new engine oil filter and apply a thin coat of engine oil to the seal rubber.

7. Install the engine oil filter turning it by hand, being careful not to damage the seal rubber.

CAUTION:

Do not tighten excessively, or oil may leak.

8. Tighten it with another 3/4 turn after the seal rubber contacts the oil cooler.

9. Install the collector cover.

10. After installing the engine oil filter, run the engine and make sure that no oil is leaking around seal rubber.
