MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL(6MT) > Reverse Idler Gear

REMOVAL

1. Remove the manual transmission assembly from the vehicle.

2. Remove the back-up light switch and neutral position switch.

3. Remove the transfer case together with the extension case assembly.

4. Remove the transmission case.

5. Remove the drive pinion shaft assembly.

6. Remove the main shaft assembly for single-range.

7. Remove the front differential assembly.

8. Remove the shifter forks and rods.

9. Remove the snap ring and bolt. Pull out the reverse idler gear bushing and tap out the spring pin.

NOTE:

Remove the spring pin by tapping inside the case being careful not to contact with the case while rotating the reverse idler gear shaft.

10. Pull the reverse idler gear shaft rearwards to remove all parts.

NOTE:

When pulling the reverse idler gear shaft, remove it as a single unit while holding from underneath, otherwise the parts will be disassembled inside transmission case.
