MECHANICAL(H4DOTC DIESEL) > Valve Clearance
NOTE:
• Perform valve clearance inspection with the engine mounted on the vehicle.
• Perform valve clearance inspection when the engine is cold.
2. Turn the crank pulley clockwise, and align the cam lobe of the cylinder to be measured with the base circle position.
NOTE:
Set the cylinder for the valve clearance inspection facing up.
3. Measure the clearance between the camshaft and rocker arm roller surface using a thickness gauge.
Valve clearance
Intake:
0.13 — 0.20 mm (0.0051 — 0.0079 in)
Exhaust:
0.18 — 0.25 mm (0.0071 — 0.0098 in)
NOTE:
The illustration shows the #1 intake and #3 exhaust.

4. Using the same measurement procedures, check the valve clearances of other cylinders.
