INSPECTION

1. CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DPF

1. Perform appropriate work by selecting from the table below, depending on the DPF warning light illumination/blinking condition and MIL light illumination condition in the combination meter.

NOTE:

Also perform DTC check by using the Subaru Select Monitor.

Perform the DPF maintenance (DPF regeneration) using the Subaru Select Monitor.

Light ON

Perform the diagnosis according to P1466.

Replace the catalytic converter and DPF, and reset the Cumulative ash amount and the Estimated soot amount.

Replace the engine oil, and reset the Oil dilution ratio.

Light ON

Perform the diagnosis according to P1469.

2. Check the connections and welded parts for exhaust leaks.

3. Make sure there are no holes or rusting.

2. EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR

1. Immerse the exhaust temperature sensor and a thermometer in water.

CAUTION:

Make sure that water does not get into the exhaust temperature sensor connector. Remove any water if it gets in to the connector.

2. Raise water temperature gradually, and measure the resistance of exhaust temperature sensor 1 and 2 connector terminals when the temperature is at 50°C (122°F).

NOTE:

Agitate the water for even temperature distribution.
