REPLACEMENT

1. Jack up the vehicle and support it with rigid racks.

2. Disconnect the oil temperature switch connector. (Turbo model for Europe)

3. Remove the oil drain plug and filler plug or the oil temperature switch, and drain the gear oil.

NOTE:

For turbo model for Europe, remove the oil temperature switch and the filler plug as a unit.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to get burned, because gear oil becomes extremely hot after running.

4. Tighten the oil drain plug.

NOTE:

Apply liquid gasket to the drain plug for the T-type.

For VA-type, use a new aluminum gasket.

Liquid gasket:

THREE BOND 1105 (Part No. 004403010) or equivalent

Tightening torque:

T-type

49 N·m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.2 ft-lb)

VA-type

34 N·m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.1 ft-lb)

5. Fill the differential carrier with gear oil to the bottom of filler plug.

NOTE:

Carefully refill oil while watching the level. Excessive or insufficient oil must be avoided.

Oil capacity:

0.8 L (0.8 US qt, 0.7 Imp qt)

6. Install the filler plug or the oil temperature switch.

NOTE:

For turbo model for Europe, install the oil temperature switch and the filler plug as a unit.

For T-type, apply liquid gasket to the filler plug or the oil temperature switch.

For VA-type, use a new aluminum gasket.

Liquid gasket:

THREE BOND 1105 (Part No. 004403010) or equivalent

Tightening torque:

T-type

49 N·m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.2 ft-lb)

VA-type

34 N·m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.1 ft-lb)

7. Connect the oil temperature switch connector. (Turbo model for Europe)
